About Matthew

Bringing in a relational psychoanalytic frame Matthew strives to understand his patients empathetically so that they may empathetically know themselves. His practice is rooted in creating a place where patients can identify and connect with their feelings and sensations, develop a greater sense of aliveness, and feel empowered in their daily lives.

Matthew R. Houston, is a practice psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker based in New York City. After training at New York University, the New School for Social Research, and numerous institutes Matthew brings a dynamic and integrated approach when working with clients.

Mr. Houston is a recent graduate of The William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program in from 2022-2024. In addition, he has attended training and workshops at the Psychoanalytic Association of New York affiliated with NYU School of Medicine, the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing Beginning 1 training
